Save Barnegat Bay wants to continue supporting the young people in our community who make Barnegat Bay a part of their education. Every year, Save Barnegat Bay awards one student at the Jersey Shore Science fair $500 for having a thoughtful, original, and relevant science project related to Barnegat Bay and the surrounding watershed. We look forward to meeting these bright students every year!

Annual Barnegat Bay marsh clean-up conducted by the Junior Sailing Program of the Barnegat Bay Yacht Racing Association (BBYRA) and Save Barnegat Bay. Each participating Yacht Club selects the youth’s favorite local marsh and plans to rally hand picked trash and debris to their coach boat and then landward to the Club or municipality for proper disposal.
In 2018, over 390 individual sailors removed 57 bags of trash from our beloved, sensitive marsh areas. All 12 clubs in the BBYRA participated! Our goal for 2019 is to host a bay-wide clean-up…including all the clubs in the south bay too!

The World Duckboat Championship, conceived by the junior sailors of the Mantoloking Yacht Club in 1969 and continually hosted for 50 years since, is one of the iconic annual events on Barnegat Bay. It is a happening, a celebration of the heritage of Barnegat Bay and wooden boat building.
It is one of the few Championship regattas where junior sailors can race and compete directly with some of the best senior sailors on the Bay. Many who have moved on from our waters return each year just for this event.

There will be a Pirate Re-enactment Crew, Live Music and Vendor Fair as Pirate’s Day invades Historic Barnegat. Two stages, pirate-themed kids’ games and a vendor and craft fair fill the tree-lined streets in the center of town. As always, Pirate’s Day is a free event to attend and enjoy.
