Upcoming Events
Join Save Barnegat Bay for our Annual Meeting at Mancini Hall in the Ocean County Library in Toms River. Listen to an update on our programs, campaigns, and projects and participate in a discussion about the bay and its future.
Join Save Barnegat Bay’s plant naturalist at the Island Beach State Park Interpretive Center and learn about different native plants. Take home a pressed plant for your collection.
A presentation will be made by our Water Quality Team focusing on sampling results of the storm-water draining systems into Barnegat Bay. Our Student Grant Program has been running for 9 years and has provided research opportunities and funding to 54 students.
Save Barnegat Bay will be presenting its newest program “Barnegat Bay Stewards” to the members of the South Seaside Park Homeowners & Voters Association. Members will have the opportunity to create a stewardship project that benefits the bay and its watershed.
Being a volunteer or intern for Save Barnegat Bay can be anything from participating in trash clean ups, helping out at festivals, or showing up to public hearings to protest over development. Whatever the role you would like to play in the Save Barnegat Bay community, we want to give you the tools to do it well! Join us for a volunteer trainer immediately following a COA Beach Sweep of Browns Woods. Clean up from 9:00 am-11:00 am and the volunteer trainer will be from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Come for one or both. Light refreshments provided. See you there!
Annual Barnegat Bay marsh clean-up conducted by the Junior Sailing Program of the Barnegat Bay Yacht Racing Association (BBYRA) and Save Barnegat Bay. Each participating Yacht Club selects the youth’s favorite local marsh and plans to rally hand picked trash and debris to their coach boat and then landward to the Club or municipality for proper disposal.
In 2018, over 390 individual sailors removed 57 bags of trash from our beloved, sensitive marsh areas. All 12 clubs in the BBYRA participated! Our goal for 2019 is to host a bay-wide clean-up…including all the clubs in the south bay too!
