Save Barnegat Bay wants to continue supporting the young people in our community who make Barnegat Bay a part of their education. Every year, Save Barnegat Bay awards one student at the Jersey Shore Science fair $500 for having a thoughtful, original, and relevant science project related to Barnegat Bay and the surrounding watershed. We look forward to meeting these bright students every year!

We are partnering with Manchester Township to bring Manchester residents their very own Rain barrel workshop! There will be an informative talk followed by a hands-on rain barrel building workshop. ALL ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND the educational talk. The first registered attendees will take home a 55 gal barrel courtesy of Manchester Township and Save Barnegat Bay.

Want your town to host a rain barrel workshop? Let us know!
Stormwater carries harmful pollutants such as excess nitrogen from fertilizers into Barnegat Bay. Rain barrels collect stormwater before that water can make it to the roads and carry pollution into our waterways. This rain water collected from your roof can be reused to water an ornamental garden, fill a bird bath, wash a car, and more! Build a rain barrel with us today to create a Smart Yard for a Healthy Bay!

Enjoy this unique opportunity to join a professional and knowledgeable botanist for a short presentation followed by a walk through the beautiful 40 acres of Browns Woods outside the Barnegat Bay EcoCenter. Don’t forget to bring a sample of that pesky plant you have been curious about-Jason Hafstad can help you identify it!

We are proud to announce our third of many workshops to come this summer here at the Barnegat Bay EcoCenter!
Come learn about how you can help combat pollution in the Barnegat Bay Watershed and construct a rain barrel to take home with you.
RSVP Required! See “Tickets”. Limited number available.
Although the program is free, donations are always appreciated to help keep this program alive! Donations can be made via cash or check on the day of event, or at https://www.savebarnegatbay.org/donate/.

The workshops were designed to provide in-depth information and tools that you can use as you follow the steps to a Jersey-Friendly Yard. During registration, attendees had the opportunity to choose which workshop to attend during each of the three morning sessions. Some presenters have graciously provided their presentations to share on this site.

Save Barnegat Bay will have a table display at this year’s Annual Fall Conference of the NJ Native Plant Society. Come out and learn about NJ Natives, Jersey-Friendly Yards, and which plants to use to attract pollinators like bees and butterflies.
The Native Plant Society of New Jersey is a statewide non-profit organization dedicated to the appreciation, protection, and study of the native flora of New Jersey. Founded in 1985, we have hundreds of members across the state, and are organized into county and regional chapters.
